While it's wonderful to celebrate love with a beautiful wedding, we need to be mindful not to underestimate the work required to build a life together.
[00:02:11] We get sucked into a cultural storyline that highlights the glamour of a single day, but doesn't stress the importance of many days that will follow.
[00:02:23] The idea of eye candy in weddings means we go all out for the looks, fancy decorations, beautiful venues and gorgeous outfits. While these things make the wedding day visually pleasing, they don't guarantee a successful marriage.
[00:02:44] We live in a culture that values quick, impressive visuals, which can distract us from the important long term aspects of relationships. To change this, we need to shift our focus to what really matters in building a strong marriage. Seeking advice from experienced, mature individuals and getting counseling before marriage can help couples navigate life storms and challenges.
[00:03:18] This kind of counseling provides tools for open communication and helps build a resilient marriage. Instead of just aiming for a visually stunning wedding day, we should invest time, energy and resources into preparing for the entire journey of marriage.
